Not measuring up…
I’ll warn you now, this is really just a boring self-accountability post. Nothing sexy here. Just thinking on the page. It won’t hurt my feelings if you duck out now. In fact, I won’t even notice. Last week’s review/preview was titled “The inevitable slowdown,” and this week, I find myself feeling like I’m simply not measuring up. So, I spent a few hours reflecting on what is working and what isn’t working in my life right now. “To understand is to perceive patterns.” Isaiah Berlin In the course of my reflection, I realized that breaks set me up for unrealistic expectations. For example, over my winter holiday, I…

How I Plan My Goals & Schedule in 6 Steps
I never like to presume that I know how to do something better than someone else. What works for me isn’t always what will work for you. But, I’ve had a few twitter DMs and emails that have me thinking that this post might be necessary and valuable for some. My Resources: First, you need to know the resources I have accessed over the years to gain the background knowledge that I use for my process. I’ve read a lot of books on this topic, and these are the ones that I have consistently relied upon. I prefer audiobooks for this because…well…I don’t have a lot of time, and Iike…

Time is Not Infinite
I do promise to get back to the sexy posts. As soon as the business side of my life is caught up (the “behind the scenes” of a sex blog is not always dildos and spankings), I’ll be able to settle in. I’ve been busy setting up affiliate relationships, calendaring reviews, responding to emails, and basically figuring out the road map for this blog for a few weeks now. I’ve been working on getting a business license, organizing my podcast…and guys, it’s A LOT of work. For FREE. I mean…yes, I get a “good feeling” inside because I’m writing and producing content that people respond to, but I spend hours…

The Desire Map Planner: Put Your Soul on the Agenda
I’ve written about The Desire Map before, but as I just joined Danielle Laporte’s affiliate program, I wanted to take a moment to explain the product and why I support it. I’m pretty choosy about the advertising I’m willing to do. From the products I test and review to the company’s I work with, I choose to support only those that fit with my own interests and values and will likely meet the needs and interests of my readers. So even though this is a sex blog, and even though this planner program (and related products) are not sex-related, I think these products belong here because they encourage introspection, goal-setting…

Blog Goals for 2020
Theme for 2020: Mindfulness I’ve got a lot of big plans for the blog this year, but it all boils down to the way I really want to feel and my personal priorities. I want to feel mindful, present, and connected, rather than my normal “distracted, distant, and disconnected.” I want to feel sensual, inspired, and restored (for more information on how I narrowed my “core desired feelings” down to these, see Desire Mapping.) I’m a planner by necessity. In order to organize my thoughts, I have to plan. And to plan, I have to consider my priorities (relationships and health). From there, I have to list everything that must…

7 Blogging Landmarks & 7 Future Blogging Plans
Landmark 1: When I started blogging, over ten years ago, I didn’t actually have a sex blog. It was just a “journal” style blog and I had zero followers. But that wasn’t the point. The point was simply to have a space where I could tag and categorize my thoughts. If I’d known about Evernote back then, I probably would have used that instead, but I didn’t, which means I made my way online and that was the first step to a very big world that I didn’t even really know existed. I had a few various blogs before I finally settled into one that lasted. I think, back then,…

Brigit’s Goals for 2019
A new year always, for me, initiates a new beginning, and, as many others have already done, it prompts me to reflect, re-evaluate, and plan for the upcoming year. As in past years, I’m starting out with the way I want to feel: connected, creative, fun, soft (receptive, accepting, breathing through the hard parts), sexy, and confident. The rest of my plans and goals have to support me in achieving these feelings, or they aren’t important enough to focus on or commit to. Relationships: As a fairly socially awkward introvert (excuses, excuses, I know), I tend to have difficulty building and sustaining deep relationships. I struggle with vulnerability (I…

“Fuck, Blog, Run” – My goals for 2018
I’ve read a fair amount of self-help literature that focuses on writing a VISION for your life…where you want to be…WHO you want to be…WHOM you want to be with…why…how…etc., etc., etc. And, much like visualization and guided imagery, I do truly believe that this is something that can manifest what we want most in our lives. Creating a vision begins with considering priorities and goals. I am trying to keep my priorities simple and focused and my goals specific and achievable. Priority #1 – I WANT AN *AWESOME* MARRIAGE: My ONE THING = FUCK — I want very much for my marriage to get back on track…which means, first…my…

New Year…New Blog Plans
So, I’ve begun a bit of a side project…and am adding a new routine periodic post theme this year… If you look at the list of page links at the top of the page, you will find an addition called “Dear Sir”…this is something I’ve been wanting to do for some time, in one form or another…and somehow, today…it materialized, and I just went to town with it. We’ll see where it takes me…and us. My original intent was to do something somewhat like Anais Nin’s letters/stories to a paying patron who requested certain intimate information from her…challenging her to really explore the depths of feminine sexuality in her erotica. …
