The Stranger (part 6)
This is an interactive story. I’ll be writing short bits and then asking for input from readers about where it should go next. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 There was a warm breeze, and it felt heavenly against Emily’s skin. They stood on the balcony, overlooking the downtown street, buzzing with pedestrians and cars, bicyclists, couples and groups enjoying meals and drinks on busy restaurant patios. The hum of life surrounded them, the lights of the city blinking in reds and greens and yellows. A few stars, strong enough to withstand the glow of the city, twinkled above, and the moon was just past full.…

The Sweet Spot
*This image was originally created for #boobday and Lingerie is for Everyone. Well, it looks like #boobday may have imploded, which makes me sad. Violet Fawkes is an amazing writer, and I’m sad to see her go (if indeed that is her decision). It means the end of Lingerie is for Everyone, too. Which is also sad. But then, social media eats people. I’ve seen a lot of casualties of this over my blogging years, especially in the last year. I guess that’s what happens when things become bigger. Take a look at any city. As it grows…the problems within it do, too. That’s just human nature. Various opinions lead…

Origin of my pen name
I’ve had a few different pen names as a blogger over the years. For obvious (and not so obvious) reasons, I’m not about to put my real name out there. I can’t even remember what name I used when I began this sex blogging journey some 12+ years ago now, but I finally settled on The Lustful Literate once I established my blog and started honing in on my “theme” or “brand,” which at the time, I was pretty clueless about. I really just wrote when I wanted and about what I wanted. There was little semblance of cohesion to my blog, and it was a scattered mess. Over time,…

Porn in the shower
I don’t watch porn very often, but I found myself questioning why that is yesterday, after seeing the prompt for “4 Thoughts or Fiction.” In fact, my brain went down a bit of a rabbit hole on the subject, following my go-to reflection questions: who, what, where, when, why, and how? Why and When So, why do I watch porn? I usually watch it when I’m already turned on. Porn, for me takes away the thought…it does the thinking for me, providing images, and sometimes sound to fill my brain while I fuck myself. It can also be the impetus when I’m not already turned on and need a quick…

The Pros and Cons of Labels for Sexual Identity
When I was in college, I remember studying the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis, the theory that language determines thought. The hypothesis explains that we must draw from the lexicon we have, adding body language and tone to fine tune the messages we intend to communicate. If this hypothesis is correct, then our thoughts are bound by our vocabulary. In other words, we can only think thoughts for which we have words. Now…I know we can encounter and think about things we have no words for, because even those things for which we have no words can be categorized with other similar things for which we do have words: Hmmm…that is round and…

Surrender
Content: Includes BDSM and consensual non-consent, without consent specifically given. Emma counted her steps to the front door, not because she needed to know or had a sudden urge to measure the distance from the car to the front step, but rather to clear her head before entering. She stood on the welcome mat, her eyes tracing the faded letters slowly, as she breathed in and out. She hated to bring work home, even just in thought, but it was difficult. There were little rituals she relied on to help her shift gears. Counting steps, tracing letters, breathing in and out…that was just the beginning. Key in the lock, Emma…
