    A Journey of a Thousand Miles…

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” – Lao-tzu     So, I’m planning on doing some weekly and monthly reviews here on the blog, to keep myself accountable to all those intentions/goals I set for myself, both for the blog and in my personal life. This is my first one. And it is super link-heavy.   Accomplishments   I’ve accomplished a lot on the blog this past week: My post “What Feels Good?” was selected in the Sinful Sunday round-up. I took part in TMI Tuesday for the 1st time in a long time. My post “Looking Back to Plan Forward” was selected for the Wicked…

    Flash Fiction Friday #18

(free image/source: istockphoto.com) Prompt 18: Snowball Fight January’s prompts will all be winter-themed (sorry southern hemisphere!), and they can be found on the main FFF page. Go here to read the rules (because, yes…there are just a few etiquette expectations). Then write up your story (no more than 500 words) and share it here (link up to other memes that may fit your writing, as well). Afterward, be sure to read the other entries and comment as the mood strikes. NOTE: It’s perfectly okay to NOT follow the prompt/challenge. If you want to go your own way with your flash fiction, just keep it at 500 words or less. If…

    Hot Chocolate

Jennifer’s skin was the color of hot chocolate: a lush brown that Stephanie felt would look so much better covered in whipped cream…meaning, really, Steph’s ultra pale white skin. Together, they’d make the perfect antidote to the cold. But Jen was married…and straight…and terrified of coloring outside the lines. So…Steph stoked her own fire (it was rather cruel to do to herself, she had to admit) through innocent physical contact. Quick hugs, cheek kisses, shoulder pats. Playing with Jen’s hair, rubbing her shoulders, squeezing her knee, and massaging her feet. A multitude of little opportunities to touch the woman she’d grown to love, secretly, under the guise of simply being…

    Threesome?

I’m coming back to the quote I shared yesterday…   I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something. – Neil Gaiman   …because it relates directly to a current opportunity. While I am not intending to make a mistakes, taking risks and trying new things can result in mistakes, and the fear of making mistakes can hold us back from even trying new things. Learning, pushing myself, sliding outside my…

    Looking Back to Plan Forward

I always look back when I plan. Knowing where I’ve been, what I’ve experienced, and how that has turned out helps me to make decisions about what to do differently in the future, as well as what not to change.   What you are not changing, you are choosing. – David Richo   Over the past few years, my goal has really been to whittle my overfull plate down to those things that actually “work” and dispense with what doesn’t in every area of my life. To pare down and simplify routines so they are manageable, effective, and make me happy. Because I’m the sort of person who is easily…

    Snow Day!

I do love an (un)expected snow day! ❄ I get to say no to real pants & a bra and yes to my book, a nap, day sex, and blogging! Actually, I got up at my normal time (5:30), and did my normal routine (coffee, snuggling with the cat, and journaling), since I didn’t already know school was canceled. Then we got the note for a delay, which meant I could relax and slow my roll. But things are super icy out, so by 7, the call came out for a snow day! It’s a spectacular day so far, too. Sunny, blue sky, with the promise of more snow later…

    TMI Tuesday

    1. Do you feel that happiness is luck or is it a practiced mindset? I definitely believe it is a mindset. And even if it weren’t, it certainly isn’t luck. Happiness is more a state of mind in which we accept our circumstances for now (planning and working to change what we must) and ourselves and find ways of feeling good in our world. Practicing gratitude, prioritizing relationships and connecting with others, being kind, smiling, being active and healthy, sleeping well, taking care of our needs and the needs of those we love, being productive and impactful in our work and activities. These are all ways of practicing happiness.  …

    State of the Union

I’ve done a State of the Union post at the beginning of the year before. Just a description of where my sex life and marriage is today…to get the lay of the land, so to speak. It’s hard to decide where to go next if you aren’t fully aware of where you are now and where you’ve been…and we’ve been a lot of places. Currently, we’re getting back on the horse, after a long stint of slowly falling apart. I’ve only recently reviewed that, so I won’t rehash it here. But, we are currently doing okay 👍. We’ve had sex a few times (instigated from both sides) and have agreed…
