    What’s your fantasy language?

Awhile back, I did a post on The 3 Things Almost Everyone Fantasizes About, and I promised to come back to the topic and cover the other types of fantasies that are most common, based on the study done for the April book pick Tell Me What You Want. These last four are tied together by the theme “breaking the rules”: taboo & forbidden sex, swinging/partner sharing/polyamory, intimacy/romance/passion, and homoeroticism & gender-bending. Intimacy, Romance, and Passion I’m going to start with intimacy, romance, and passion, because this was my #1. Sadly, it was Mr. D’s #5, which is one of the problems we’ve struggled with over the course of our…

3 things almost everyone fantasizes about

Recently, I reflected on the first chapter of Justin Lehmiller’s Tell Me What You Want: The Science of Sexual Desire and How it Can Help You Improve Your Sex Life. My focus was the seven major categories of fantasy for Americans; I rated those categories top to bottom for myself and then had my Husband do the same, for comparison’s sake. We found a fair amount of difference, which I plan to tackle in this post and few upcoming posts. Chapter two goes into greater detail on the top 3 categories, the most popular being Multi-partner sex, followed by Power, control, and rough sex, and then by Novelty, adventure, and…

What was the last thing you read?

And onto the 3rd “Tell Me Something True” question! As always, you can keep it light and simple, short and sweet, or take this one for a long drive and dig in deep. You can head down a sexy road, or keep this one safe for work. It’s totally up to you! The goal is simply to get to know one another better. The question is: What was the last thing you read? Tell Me What You Want

I’ve been reading a rather interesting study on American sexual desire titled Tell Me What You Want: The Science of Sexual Desire and How it Can Help You Improve Your Sex Life by Justin Lehmiller, PhD. There are 8 intriguing chapters in this book, and since fantasy is at the root of our sex therapy work right now, I think it might be useful to take this one a chapter at a time and do a bit of personal reflection on it. Chapter One This chapter is mainly about the survey that Lehmiller bases much of his theories on. It’s a valuable chapter, though, as it clearly states his definition…

The Erotic Book Club: March 2021

Scroll down for the discussion questions and my end-of-the-month thoughts on the book. Well, after last month’s disappointment, I went for something light and romantic for March. This month, it’s a trilogy of short novellas by two different writers. The first of the series, The Irishman, is by Elisa Leigh. The second two are by M.K. Moore (I couldn’t find her author page, but here she is on Goodreads). These novellas are of the romance sub-genre #instalove – and while likely a bit cheesy and predictable, I often find these types of stories to be positive and uplifting, which is perfect for the earliest of spring. These novellas are inexpensive,…

Erotic Book Club – February 2021

I’m going to heat it up a bit this month with the first book from Penelope Sky’s 6 book series: Synopsis: I owe him a debt. A big one. The payment can’t be settled with money or favors. He only wants one thing. Me. Every action gets a reward. A button. Once I fill his jar with three hundred and sixty-five buttons, he’ll let me go. He’ll let me walk away. But I have to earn every single one. By submitting to the darkest, cruelest, and most beautiful man I’ve ever known. ** TRIGGER WARNING ** Dark and possibly disturbing scenes of abuse and punishment. Available for Amazon Kindle $6.99, Audible…

Erotic Book Club – January 2021 Discussion

My January 2021 selection for the Erotic Book Club was: Bridgerton: The Duke & I by Julia Quinn (book #1 of a 9 book series) Amazon’s synopsis: By all accounts, Simon Basset is on the verge of proposing to his best friend’s sister—the lovely and almost-on-the-shelf—Daphne Bridgerton. But the two of them know the truth—it’s all an elaborate ruse to keep Simon free from marriage-minded society mothers. And as for Daphne, surely she will attract some worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable. But as Daphne waltzes across ballroom after ballroom with Simon, it’s hard to remember that their courtship is a sham. Maybe it’s his devilish…

Erotic Book Club – The January 2021 Selection

I was originally going to choose a different book (don’t worry…I just put it off until February), until I found out about this new Netflix series, Bridgerton. I’m always slightly behind the times when it comes to television shows, and I rarely watch anything simply for my own benefit. But this one sounds delicious. I’ve always been a fan of period dramas, and if a little sexy intrigue is mixed in, well…all the better, I say! I’m sort of a stickler for reading things before I watch their film or television adaptation, so I decided I’d better rush and get this one on the calendar so I can watch the…
