    Fireworks

The explosions cracked above and vibrated the ground. Light filled the darkly bruised sky and showered down like leaves. It was our job to keep them coming, to wow the crowd with layered patterns and color. Adam prepped the explosives; my team lit them and sent them heavenward, standing back to admire his vision just as much as the crowd. Like a symphony, we dazed them with intricate melodies of light and soul-pounding percussion. And while Adam mesmerized them, their necks craned, eyes dazzled, mouths agape in appreciative “oohs” and “aahs,” we shocked them back to the awareness of their bodies, pulsing the ground with pounding booms. I wondered how…

    Is masturbation selfish?

Welcome to The Erotic Journal Challenge! If you’ve never participated, make sure to glance at the rules. This week, share your opinion: Is masturbation selfish? I recently read a post that posited that if you are in a relationship, masturbation is selfish, because it takes sexual energy away from the person you should be dedicating it to. Hmmm… I was intrigued by the topic, so I figured I would send it out to you for consideration. What do you think? NOTE: Please take a moment to read the rules. The Erotic Journal Challenge encourages writers to really dig deep and share some pretty personal stuff. So I want everyone to know that they…

The shadows in this image represent those parts. But you don’t get to see the parts that my family, friends, and colleagues get to see. The everyday me. Mom me. Daughter me. Friend me. Teacher me. This image shows those parts in light. But even…

    Flash Fiction Friday #7

I can’t believe it is already Friday, and I’m heading into a 3-day weekend as it is 4th of July here in the states. As such, it’s an FFF theme week! I know not every is patriotic, nor does everyone celebrate the 4th, but the theme could easily be twisted a dozen different ways. Prompt 7: Write 100-200 words in response to the theme “Independence Day.” If you aren’t in the U.S. or don’t celebrate this particular holiday, stick with the theme of “Independence.” Go Here to Read the Rules (because, yes…there are etiquette expectations). Then write up your story and share it here. Afterward, be sure to read the other…

    Corruption

I felt him brush against me, his skin slick in the viscous lake water, thick and dark with microscopic life.  The heat of my want for him distracted me from my numbing extremities and shivering core. She turned from us, giving me just enough time to pull him under, my hands searching out his face, my lips finding his. It was a dark and sinful deed, but the water washed my sin away as we rose to the surface, spitting and fluttering. Someone reached a hand down from the dock, helping me out and handing me a towel. The party would go on, and I’d find other opportunities to connect…
