    I’m going on an adventure!

Find a notebook, any notebook, and open to the first page. Or, open up a new blank document on your computer. That, my friends, is the door to an adventure. In fact, any new beginning is the start to a potential adventure. I love the meme I’ve used for my feature image in this post, because I feel a deep connection to Hobbits. If I were a character in Tolkien’s world, I would definitely be a Hobbit, tucked away in my cozy little home, reading and eating and staying safe. Leaving my comfort zone and heading out into the wild, blue yonder doesn’t always fill me with a sense of…

    There are a hundred ways…

There are a hundred ways to kneel and kiss the ground. – Rumi There are two days left in 2020, and while our yearly endings and beginnings are a human construct and only psychologically create doors from one thing to another, there is something gratifying about the closure and opportunity that New Year’s brings. I always feel a certain motivational energy at this time of year, and it feels a bit like shedding my skin and letting go of all that wasn’t done to my liking. I hear a lot of talk about how happy people are to be done with 2020, as if somehow, we will wake up on…

Erotic Book Club – The January 2021 Selection

I was originally going to choose a different book (don’t worry…I just put it off until February), until I found out about this new Netflix series, Bridgerton. I’m always slightly behind the times when it comes to television shows, and I rarely watch anything simply for my own benefit. But this one sounds delicious. I’ve always been a fan of period dramas, and if a little sexy intrigue is mixed in, well…all the better, I say! I’m sort of a stickler for reading things before I watch their film or television adaptation, so I decided I’d better rush and get this one on the calendar so I can watch the…

Join me in a (re)discovery of submission

Now that I have completed The Submissive Advent Calendar, I’m motivated to continue with Luna Caruthers’ Submissive Reflection: A Journey of Rediscovery and Affirmation. I would love for you to join me and add to the conversation. Sometimes discussing the issues can make them so much more clear and can bring up perspectives we maybe would have overlooked otherwise. You can purchase the guide at the link above and at Amazon. I’m planning to read a chapter each weekend and then write about some of the topics that grab me during the week. This book is appropriate for anyone interested in dedicating or re-dedicating themselves to submission, newbies and long-timers…

Erotic Book Club – December 2020 Discussion

I don’t know about you, but I thought Ellie Mae MacGregor’s The Naughty List was an adorably sexy novella, and I look forward to more writing from her. I’ll be honest, I was originally drawn in by the fabulous cover art for this book. I’ve always found older, “silver fox” types hot, and while it seemed a bit silly to have an erotic tale about Santa, I was in the mood for something a bit comedic. It’s been a rough year for many of us, and ending the year with something short, funny, and sexy was just what the doctor ordered. This little story did not disappoint. At a short…

    A Naughty Christmas Pudding

(I forgot how much I liked this story, so I went ahead and recorded it for my Erotic Bedtime Stories podcast, and I’m reposting it here for your holiday enjoyment.)   It was a very gray day, indeed. Rain beat against the roof in fits and starts, sending Edward into a reverie of a time when he’d once convinced his young children that the sound was the pattering hooves of Santa’s reindeer. Those very children would be bringing their own children to dinner, and his lovely wife, Margery, was downstairs now making the whole house shine and smell of good things. His life was good, if not a little dull.…

Falling into place (types of submission)

Part of reclaiming my submission is falling back into place within our relationship. That means some changes that I’m used to and some changes I’ve never been good at. Service submission Thankfully, His main love language is Acts of Service, because I honestly believe that this is the type of submission I do best.  Serving Him first at dinner, pulling off His boots at night, keeping my body ready for Him, keeping the house and my own appearance nice, running His errands without complaint, making sure He always has clean jeans and underwear, getting His drinks in the evening and at parties. I’m fairly good at attending to His needs…

    Putting in the work

As I’ve noted before, Mr. D and I have been going to a sex therapist/marriage counselor, Dr. Roger Libby, for a little while now. It began making a difference from the first day, because it was obvious how different he was from a regular marriage counselor. He gave us hope and immediately started guided us with actions to take rather than simply discussions of feelings or rehashing the past. We’re definitely a committed couple, for all our other relationship faults. And neither of us wants our relationship to fail. We moved past all the people we could live with and landed on the one we couldn’t live without, which is…

    The Turning Point

Today is the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, and the night that marks the return of the sun – in effect, tonight is the sun’s birthday…and that is certainly something to celebrate. (Of course, in the Pacific Northwest, our worst weather tends to come in January and February, but at least spring is in sight and 2020 – this fucking dumpster fire of a year – will be behind us.) The majority of our Christian holiday traditions during this season are taken from the Pagan celebrations of Yule and the Solstice. And as I’m not a Christian, I do tend to prefer thinking of this season in…
