July’s Erotic Poetry Challenge: “Poems as Inspiration”

July’s optional theme is “Poems as Inspiration.” (scroll down for the weekly prompts) Reading is a way to fill up the well of imagination, and so it makes sense that reading poetry would fill up the well of your poetic imagination. Seeing the way another uses language, breaks lines, uses rhyme or rhythm can help us to use those things in new ways, as well. Those poets become our guides, our models, and our muses. I might even challenge you to read a poem a day and see where that takes you! I often find that if I read a few poems, I am inspired to write one of my…

    Girls

I watch them in the hall, the subtle ways they accept or shun: a hug given (or not), furrowed brow and sideways glance– their body language denies entry into the inner circle if you do not dress the part speak the part act the part give in. Their long, slimness sneers at difference. All it takes to become a target: the wrong clothes, an awkward laugh, an extra pound. The attack is relentless and indirect– a pound a flesh taken via the soul. It’s an old game, played out in the same spaces every year. How many have they broken?

    Relax…Let It Go…Walk Away…Find Your Peace…

It’s likely to be a bit of a rambling hodge-podge today. Things are a bit of a swirling mess in my head, and I’m trying to find clarity. First off, I stopped doing Noom. Just over a month, and I gained 4 pounds on the program. Not really the direction I was trying to go, so, I jumped of the cart and within days I was down almost 4 pounds. I think the over-thinking about every calorie I put in my mouth was doing the exact opposite of what it should have done. Knowing I couldn’t or shouldn’t have things just made me want them more and logging every meal…

    Blue

“Each band or level, being a particular manifestation of the spectrum, is what it is only by virtue of the other bands. The color blue is no less beautiful because it exists along side the other colors of a rainbow, and “blueness” itself depends upon the existence of the other colors, for if there were no color but blue, we would never be able to see it.” – Ken Wilber Given the theme for this month’s Lingerie is for Everyone, I found this quote to be especially thoughtful.

    Surrender

Content: Includes BDSM and consensual non-consent, without consent specifically given. Emma counted her steps to the front door, not because she needed to know or had a sudden urge to measure the distance from the car to the front step, but rather to clear her head before entering. She stood on the welcome mat, her eyes tracing the faded letters slowly, as she breathed in and out. She hated to bring work home, even just in thought, but it was difficult. There were little rituals she relied on to help her shift gears. Counting steps, tracing letters, breathing in and out…that was just the beginning. Key in the lock, Emma…

Establishing Your “Why” So You Can Determine Your “What” and “How”

I, and several other bloggers I follow, seem to have been sort of at a place of reckoning when it comes to our blogs…focusing on getting back to our “roots,” so to speak. But then, of course, you need to know what your roots were/are to do that. And maybe some of you have never even had those. It occurred to me that I could apply to this problem the same logic I use in my field of work. Establish Your Why Ask yourself: Why am I writing/blogging? Determine your What Ask yourself: What will I do to achieve this purpose/goal/aim? Determine Your How Ask yourself: How exactly will I do this? Here’s…

Brigit’s Diary: The Difficulty of Body Hair

Today: 207.5 pounds, 3,922 steps, alcohol 3, calories 1995, sleep almost 9 hours, cleaned house (that counts as a workout, right?!), masturbation 1/orgasms 1 (so far…trying to prove to myself that masturbation is a clear key to libido revival) Body Hair I can’t be the only one who has an obsession with my own body hair, can I? It started several years back when I noticed black hairs around my areolas. (And seriously, why does my computer not know what that word is…the red squiggly line under it is disconcerting. Is areola the singular and plural form of the word? Or should it be areoli? My computer doesn’t like any…

    Stories Matter

I’ve been blogging for alotta years. I started back in 2007 with a simple blogger site where I wrote poems and rambled on about daily happenings. I was a new mom, struggling with managing my multiple roles, and I enjoyed the platform as a place to organize my thoughts by tags and categories. As a life-long diarist/journaler (is that even a word?), I found this process comforting. But, I also found myself getting lost in design and the tech aspects of blogging, spending hours learning HTML and adding images and widgets, rather than focusing on my thoughts and actually writing them. I must have started and abandoned five or six…
