Mr. D's Sinful Sunday,  Photography

Midnight at the Oasis

Mr. D did not forget Sinful Sunday this week. And I’m pretty proud of His results, I have to say. The lighting for these was produced by a headlamp on my head (of all things) in a dark room. I guess when you are amateurs and do not have true photography equipment or a special room with special lighting, you do what you must to create certain effects. It did take a little photoshop-ing, as well.

There Is A Budding Morrow In Midnight
Christina Rossetti

Wintry boughs against a wintry sky;
Yet the sky is partly blue
And the clouds are partly bright:–
Who can tell but sap is mounting high
Out of sight,
Ready to burst through?

Winter is the mother-nurse of Spring,
Lovely for her daughter’s sake,
Not unlovely for her own :
For a future buds in everything;
Grown, or blown,
Or about to break.

    Your post title is actually the blog name of another participant I follow (Indigo), so I was confused when I first opened the thumbnail.

    I’m chuckling at the mental picture of using a headlamp. A handy (heady?) tool, if somewhat unconventional. When it comes to lighting, creativity is often key. 🙂

      Yes…I follow indigo, as well. But, it was Mr. D’s title. I brought that up to Him, but He wanted the title…so I went with it!

    Oh these are fucking glorious guys. Seriously you did an amazing job. I think the headlamp needs more exploration

    Dark but enticing picture!! Very nice. I think I could lend you my headlamp to throw a wee bit more light on the subject! ??

      Marie, I would have loved to use the out-takes of this for the previous prompt, the headlamp added a certain je ne sais quoi. Brigit would leave me though, so no dice.

    these belong on a gallery wall, Brigit! So, so, so intoxicating! You two make a great team in so many ways!

    I cannot even begin to describe how much I am in awe of this! This should be made into an art print or something! The landscape like layers and curves of your body are perfectly lit, and I’m seriously impressed by the headlamp effect! Just wow!! x

    Thank you all for the kind words, hopefully I can keep up a semblance of creative flow and make more images as striking as these. I have been shown how to use a DSLR camera in a very certain way and this is definitely out of that purview. Having a patient and somewhat captive audience is definitely helpful, but even still it is a caveman armed with a camera.

    Really lovely Brigit (and Mr. D)! I love the dark and dreamy mood. It’s a very subtle photo yet there is a lot of depth.
