I used to hate nude lingerie. And, to be honest, I still prefer black or bright colors. the problem is, it just doesn’t work under a lot of my clothes. The older I get, the more “practical” I become about a lot of things, including my lingerie. While sexy, pretty, lacy things still catch my eye in the shops, I’ve come to appreciate comfort and functionality. I avoid wires now days, and lace and padding tend to bunch up or cause bumps under my clothes. For a smoother silhouette, I begun opting for lingerie that doesn’t dig in or create tightness, hence “rolls.” I also avoid lower riding panties that won’t stay up, high legs or thongs, as I don’t like fabric up my ass. I like hip-hugger styles because they flatter my bigger hips and thighs and don’t cinch in at my waist. And I’ve started wearing wireless bras to avoid discomfort and minimize back and under arm fat.
How’s that for some lingerie honesty, folks?
Also, that nude color that I disliked as a younger woman? Well, just like neutral colors in my house, it’s starting to make sense. I am now beginning to understand why my mother went for beige everything (including lingerie). It looks cleaner and newer longer and doesn’t show under my clothes. Yep. Practical. And while that may be boring…and maybe not sexy…it’s the truth.
I’m not sure how much Mr. D likes it, but that’s a conversation for another time. I suspect he’d prefer something more enticing.
