4 Sexual “Likes” I Don’t Like to Talk About

(Warning: Rape as fantasy is referenced in this post.) This week’s Erotic Journal Challenge prompt is “Distress.” Guiding Questions: Do you now find, or have you ever found, anything distressing or uncomfortable about your sexual thoughts, fantasies, desires, or actions? Is there anything that you want or need that you have trouble asking for or are reticent to admit because it makes you blush? Have you had any experiences that have caused you embarrassment? It’s important to note, the way I came up with the questions for this challenge was to research the possibilities and add them to my own ideas. I then typed them all out, cut them apart,…

    But First, Coffee

The book store loomed before her, its glowing sign a beacon of hope in the gloomy rain. If, according to her friends, the bar was, indeed, the wrong place to meet an intelligent stranger, then maybe this would provide a more successful hunting ground. Paige straightened her glasses and wrapped her hand around the straps of her shoulder bag. She paused briefly to steel herself and smooth her skirt, shaking her hair and inhaling deeply to settle her nerves. Pulling the door open, she breathed in the expected smell of paper and dust and scanned the store for possibilities. In a large leather chair in the corner, an attractive older…

Know your audience, your craft, and trust yourself

This year, I’m not taking part in the Smut Marathon…however, I’m finding it fascinating to be part of the public reading contingent. It’s a very different seat to be sitting in for this competition. I’m not a judge, so I don’t have the heat on my shoulders that they do to really evaluate the writing for style, rule-following, and technique. And I’m not one of the writers, so I don’t have the stress of living up to anyone else’s expectations. I’m just little Jane Public enjoying the view from a comfy chair with my cup of coffee. But, the public vote carried me all the way to the 8th round…

    FPF Day 16 – A Rainy Saturday

It’s rainy here…typical Pacific Northwest weather…on top of snow, which means our entire world is melting right now. Our state of emergency has now been updated to included mud-slides in certain areas of the state. This is also when the temperatures don’t cooperate with the rain, and the wind gets into the mix, which can cause downed power lines and broken trees. Over the next week, the weather promises more of its bipolar tendencies, and as much as I can identify with mother nature’s mental issues, I’m definitely ready for spring. Today, I’ve not been feeling 100% myself. It’s the first day my mood has taken a dip since the…

The Erotic Journal Challenge #7: “Distress”

This week’s Erotic Journal Challenge prompt is “Distress.” Do you now find, or have you ever found, anything distressing or uncomfortable about your sexual thoughts, fantasies, desires, or actions? Is there anything that you want or need that you have trouble asking for or are reticent to admit because it makes you blush? Have you had any experiences that have caused you embarrassment? This could definitely be a hard post to publish, I understand that, so always feel free to use these prompts for personal journaling you don’t share with the world. Sometimes, what I do for these prompts is to hand write them or type them in my journal…

    Lock, Stock, and Barrel

If Brigit Delaney wrote Harlequin Romance… Katrina stood outside the door of her cabin, surveying the farmland below. She’d heard rumors in the village that the British soldiers were on their way and had planned a surprise attack for after dark. It wasn’t their normal style, they weren’t marching into town, two by two, bright red uniforms and a drummer boy announcing them from miles away. They’d been in country long enough to learn that the local boys used different, more successful tactics picked up from the natives. But, the British regulars weren’t prepared for the local boys’ women. Kat, made her way to the laundry basket, picked out her…
