Daisies are definitely my favorite flower. I love their wild nature…the fact that they pop up anywhere, against odds sometimes. They are hardy and strong. Stubborn and pretty without being presumptuous. I like to think they are indicative of parts of my own personality.

But orchids are sexy and sensual and sometimes difficult. They take more care and don’t always do what you want them to do.

I have one orchid plant that my husband bought me several years ago. It has only taken on season off to rest (this winter) and not bloom. But, this summer, here it is again…beautiful as ever.

  1. Beautiful image – very sensual – I have some of those in the kitchen at the moment – the orchids I mean – my breasts are under wraps – well for the moment 😉 x

  2. This is a beautiful image, soft and sensual like the Orchid and I am super impressed with your skills as no matter what I do they always die on me

  3. Lovely composition and colour in this image. As the others have said… soft and sexy too.

  4. You compliment each other very well. A lovely and delicate image in an evocative composition. Well done on keeping the orchid going. Sadly the ones I bought Mum didn’t survive (though her cyclamens have a new lease of life).

  5. This immediately takes me to how luminous orchid petals are, up close. They have a creamy suppleness to them that is very skin like. They also bruise so easily. Beautiful layering of tenderness here.

    1. The likeness to a woman’s genitals is pretty astounding in some photos of orchids. I’m not the first to notice, either.

  6. I love the softness of this image, it is really delightful. I love flowers but I am awful at nurturing them, so I love appreciating the flower growing achievements of others x

    1. They make a hardy variety that is sold at our local grocery stores. This white one came from there, and it is so easy to take care of. I usually kill plants. I have a dozens of philodendrons and some spider plants. I have managed to keep an African violet and a Christmas cactus alive, but the cactus has never bloomed. I also have a new aloe plant. We’ll see. I don’t garden outside…at all…but I love to be surrounded by green indoors.
